Oranges / Poem

this morning I woke up hungry for the first time in a long time / I cut an orange into quarters and let the juice run down my chin and I did not want to share it with you / today became the day I started again / without guilt / without questioning / the sun did not cover the whole sky / only a patch where the grey clouds did not disturb / I was thankful that God allowed me a morning where things were not perfect / but one in which they didn’t need to be / the morning became the afternoon and the afternoon became the night and the night became the first day I was not with you / tomorrow someone will introduce me as your girlfriend and I will not have the heart to tell them I belong to no one / but tonight / tonight is one where I try to live without you / and survive

On a whim I bought a 3 kilo bag of oranges, and after eating half of them I decided to juice the rest because there are only so many oranges I can eat without it becoming a chore, am I right? So I juiced the rest with my new juicer and boy oh boy is fresh orange juice good.
