Twenty-Three / Poem

Old enough to know

I have no idea what’s going on

Young enough to think

I have all the answers

Climbing away from eighteen-year-olds

Maintaining part

Of a lingering youth

Twenty-three

Am I a good person yet

Chasing years before me

That will surely be filled with kindness

How many things can’t I understand

How many do I choose not to

When I look behind

Do I count these losses as tragedies or lessons

My name is Sarah and I’m a twenty three year old who loves Jesus first and foremost, finds joy in the simple things, and appreciates a good metaphor and oxford comma.
