I know the shore like it is home
It bleeds into the ocean
Becomes the floor of something all consuming.
I find comfort in the shoreline
But when the water hits me
On the stomach I freeze.
I do not want my toes to grip
The grains as though they are friends
I want to float above it all and forget.
I want to forget I can drown
That I flail without thought
That I was born without knowing how to swim.
