Change / Poem

I wrote this poem during a recent quiet time with God. Usually when I write creatively about Jesus I won’t post it on my blog because it’s not neat, it’s just words that aren’t edited or properly ordered. But today I thought I may as well. We’re all human, and things get a little messy sometimes. Here’s proof of mine.

Saying things will change

Feels like the last time

Maybe this is different

But my heart seems the same.

I kneel before Your throne

And say Your will be done

But has anything in me grown

To accept You’re in control?

I need You all the time

But only seek You when I cry

I call You ‘Mighty Lord’ and ‘Saviour’

So why is it so hard to change my behaviour?

A losing battle, uphill fight

I ask for Your help but give up overnight

Why aren’t I changing

I guess I’m not trying hard enough.

God, You’re the most important

But I have other things to do

Can we please talk tomorrow

When I’ve already done what You don’t want me to do?

Tomorrow I’ll say things will change

We’ll have been through this before

We’ll go on and on, up and down

Can’t You tell I love You?
