The Art of Changing Perspective

Spring is officially on its way, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited.

This morning was warm and breezy, and though it turned cold and rainy not long after that, the weather has warmed up again and life is good.

Spring is the definition of a fresh start. Starting over. Second chance. Let’s do this. It’s invigorating. It’s exciting. It’s full of promise.

Spring is full of promise.

People spring clean. They get ready for the new season of their lives. They get rid of the old to make room for the new. Flowers bloom and leaves green up. Everyone is embracing their chance for a fresh start.

Spring changes your perspective. I know that if you want change you should just go and make it happen or whatever, but spring is just the perfect metaphor I can’t resist. Because it makes you feel different. Winter is happy and fun, for sure, but the connotations of spring are lighter, brighter, more hopeful.

I am so ready for this change it’s not even funny.

Spring pulls you out of your slump and makes you want to get out of bed in the morning. Spring makes you take hay fever tablets but gives you beautiful flowers to make up for it. Spring calls out to the sun and lets you sit outside for dinner.

Spring lets you wear dresses without stockings and jackets and scarves and boots. Spring suggests bare feet and soft grass. Not needing to use a dryer for your laundry. Not needing to take a half-hour shower because it’s too cold to leave the hot water.

Spring is coming, campers, and I hope you’re excited.
